A bit about the business
We may be Scotland's oldest trading company, but there's nothing
Victorian about our approach to business. As well as exploring new
opportunities within Crieff Hydro, we always have an eye out for
new commercial ventures.
But whatever avenue we explore, we never forget that much of our
success is owed to our talented and enthusiastic team. Over 500
people work at Crieff Hydro, and it's their knowledge and
experience that impresses our guests and brings them back to the
hotel time and again.
Meet the management
Our management team practically grew up in the hospitality
business (in fact, a couple of them practically grew up in this
very hotel). So they know what makes the difference between a great
leisure break and a crummy one. Are they insightful? Yes.
Innovative? Undoubtedly. Photogenic? You decide.

Hydro history
It sounds a bit strange now, but to the Victorians, swimming in
freezing spring water was just what the doctor ordered. So it goes
that in 1868, under the management of physician Thomas H. Meikle,
we opened our doors as The Strathearn Hydropathic Establishment
Company.
Of course, a lot's changed since then (we've got a catchier name
for a start). And the £40 million we've invested in recent years
really shows. But what hasn't changed is the lineage behind the
hotel.
After 140 years in business, Crieff Hydro is now managed by
fifth generation descendants of Dr Meikle. We like to think he'd
approve of the changes we've made.
