What made you choose Crieff Hydro?
Jon is originally from the UK and his mum grew up spending her summer holidays at the Hydro with her family . Not long after Jon and I met, his parents hosted a big family reunion at the Hydro, and Jon and I fell in love with the beautiful countryside, ceilidh dancing and endless outdoor activities.
When we got engaged, we initially assumed we’d get married in Philadelphia. Jon mentioned the Hydro on a whim, which at first I assumed was a joke as we were not even considering a destination wedding, but as soon as we actually started to look into it, we knew we couldn’t resist!
What would be your one piece of advice Bride to Bride & Groom to Groom?
The best advice we received was to be clear about what your biggest priorities were and not to worry too much about the rest of the details. For us, this meant prioritising spending lots of fun, quality time with our guests and lots of dancing.
Where did you get your dress and how did you choose it?
My dress was from a store in New York City. I had tried on lots of dresses that were all nice but nothing that really felt quite right, but this one perfect as soon as I put it on. It felt classic and simple but with a little extra elegance. And it was so comfortable and easy to wear!
How did you meet, who proposed and how did they do it?
We met at a bar in Philadelphia, at a birthday party that neither of us was invited to. We both had tagged along with a friend, and within minutes of meeting we knew we were onto something. Jon proposed outside my first apartment in Philly, in the same spot he’d asked me to be his girlfriend 2 years earlier.
How did you that they were “the one”?
It really was the closest thing to love at first sight that I can imagine. We both knew from the start that this was it.
What was your favourite part of the day?
It’s so hard to choose, but the ceremony was our favourite part. It was so fun and meaningful, and we were surprised by how much we enjoyed it!
What song did you choose for your first dance?
You Make My Dreams Come True by Hall and Oats
What was the most romantic thing about the day?
The vows were the most romantic. We were more focused on fun and celebration the rest of the day!
Did anything funny happen?
Our friend’s story during our ceremony and the best man’s speech were both hilarious and had everybody laughing.
What was the most memorable part of the day?
We had an epic dance party in the Ferntower. Our band was fabulous and for four hours we never left the dance floor.
