10 things you’ll love about our Culcrieff self-catering lodges
You haven’t been self-catering until you’ve self-catered in Culcrieff.
Did you know that as well as our 215 hotel rooms we also have 55 self-catering lodges dotted about our estate? Yes, that means you can be as close to the action as you like or have your own little slice of Perthshire heaven.
13 of our lodges are snuggled up in Culcrieff, just a 10-minute drive from the hotel (or about a 30-minute walk if you fancy stretching your legs). And although we love ALL of our self-catering lodges, these ones are secretly our favourite. Why, you may ask? Well, we’ll let you in on the top things we love (and what you will too) about our Culcrieff lodges.
1. They’re our newest lodges
We completed a full luxury refurbishment of our Culcrieff lodges in 2017/2018. This means that they are all decked out for their second summer since completion. You’ll find lush sofas, rooms big enough to twirl in until you’re dizzy, and everything you will need for the all-important summer barbecues.
2. The Perthshire views are a-ma-zing
If you’re unfamiliar with Culcrieff, think rolling hills towards the west, towering trees, greenery EVERYWHERE, and horses grazing in the fields. You may think you are in The Shire, but no, we can assure you this is Scotland. So grab your favourite drink and head to the decking and soak it all in (fingers crossed for a mini heatwave this year).
3. Self-catering is pawfect for dogs
Excuse the pun, but what can we say, our self-catering lodges are a dog’s paradise. Miles of woodland trails to bound along, plenty of new things to sniff and they can be your lunch/dinner date at the dog-friendly Action Glen Cafe or The Murraypark – plus many more reasons to get that tail wagging.
4. Playpark? Of course!
Culcrieff has its own play park (or castle depending on your imagination) for the kids to swing up to the sky and climb ’til their heart’s content while you sit back and relax with a drink or two. Sorry in advance if they come tumbling in for lunch a bit muddy!
There’s no need to worry about parallel parking or reversing into that spot that you’re convincing your other half the car will fit into. There are no musical car games here either (that spot was 100% ours, eye contact was made, those are the rules). ALL of our self-catering units have a dedicated parking space outside them or there’s parking available in a nearby car park.
6. There’s free childcare (yes, really)
We like to pitch this as a chance for the adults to have some ‘me time’, but really, that’s all a facade. We speak on behalf of all kids aged 2-12 when we say they love BIG Country. A world of adventure and mischief awaits when you drop them off – there are castles and ball pools (of course), iPads, games consoles and more can be found in the Green Room.
7. Action Glen & Basecamp
Being further away from the hotel doesn’t mean you have to be further from the action – in fact, being in Culcrieff means you will be the closest to Action Glen and Basecamp Bar & Cafe (you lucky, lucky people). Jump on a segway and explore the woods or take on an Aloft! adventure zipping over the treetops. You’ll also find archery, clays and golf just a hop, skip and a jump away (plus over 60 other activities).
8. Bringing the party to us? The more, the merrier
Some of our larger lodges can sleep groups of up to 10+, and we have interconnecting lodges for when the extended family and your mates want to come along too. No need to look out the sleeping bags or put together a sleeping rota for who’s turn it is on the sofa – there’s a bed for everyone!
9. All the benefits of a hotel guest, without staying in the hotel
That means the pool (where kids splash time is the best time of the day), gym, and evening excitements are all here for you to use. You now have no excuse to skip gym day. Oh, and there are also six restaurants for you to choose from when you don’t feel like cooking (or doing the washing-up!).
10. We’re here if you need us
Culcrieff may feel like it’s a world of its own, but if you ever need us, we’re only a hop skip and a jump down the hill. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
