Riding Centre

Calling all happy hackers and dressage divas – horse riding is back.

As of  1st June some of our horse riding activities will be open again for Crieff residents and locals within 5 miles of Crieff.

We will be bringing advance and intermediate hack back first, followed by Polly Pony rides and beginner hacks. Please note that all activities must be booked in advance online.

As always, the safety of our guests and team is paramount, so we have put in place some extra measures so you can enjoy your time with us safely. Find out more in our Hydro Play Safe Measures below.

In our indoor arena, or outside if the weather is nice, aboard one of our trusty (and hugely experienced) steeds, you’ll learn to stop, start, steer and even trot! Though, to truly master that last one it’s likely you’ll need a few lessons….Hold on tight!

  • Long trousers, closed toe shoes and a sense of adventure are a must!
  • Helmet & equipment provided

Price: 30 minutes from £33, 60 minutes from £40 (experienced riders only)

Hack

*Advanced and intermediate hack available*

With over 900 acres to explore you could go for days (but your horse might not thank you for that!) Instead, let your ride-leader show you the best bits in an hour while you take in the view through the ears of your noble steed…

  • Choose from three levels – beginner (currently unavailable), intermediate and advanced.
  • 8yrs + (Maximum weight 13 stone / 82.5 kg)

Lead-rein

*Currently unavailable*

‘Rearing’ to go but not quite old enough for a lesson or hack? Our 30 minute lead rein sessions are a great introduction to the equestrian world! Riders aged 4 – 8yrs will be kitted out in a helmet and body protector before taking to the trails on the end of an instructor’s lead rein.

That way, the little ones get the best of both worlds. So they can sit back and enjoy the ride, or take the reins and practice their skills!

  • 4yrs – 8yrs
  • Long trousers, closed toe shoes and a sense of adventure are a must!
  • Helmet & equipment provided

Price: From £28 per child

Pony Rides

*Currently unavailable*

Not big enough to reach the stirrups? Saddle up on Polly, the Shetland pony. (Or, if Polly’s having a day off, Romeo will pick up the slack)

  • Polly pony rides are for 4yrs and under
  • Long trousers and closed toe shoes are a must
  • Ridden before? Why not try our  30 minute lead-rein instead?

Price: £10.00 per child

Before you book...

Due to the social distancing measures we have in place and the current activities available to book, it is essential that riders are able to do the following independently before they decide to book:

  • Fit your own helmet and other safety equipment properly
  • Conduct safety checks like girths and stirrups
  • Mount and dismount
  • Complete a pre-ride assessment

Pre-Ride Assessment:

Our short pre-ride assessments are designed to ensure your safety and that you are at the correct riding level for the activity you have booked. The assessment includes demonstrating that you are able to independently mount your horse, complete a series of safety checks, and demonstrate you can stop, start and steer before completing a walk/canter/trot around the arena. Once you have successfully completed the assessment you will be able to start your activity safely.

When you book...
  • All of our horse riding activities are available for groups of up to four people and have to be pre-booked and paid online
  • We have introduced a ‘buffer’ time between our activity slots to help maintain social distancing
  • When you have booked, you will be contacted by a member of our team to confirm you are symptom free
  • Guests should travel alone or with a member of their own household
  • Please be aware that we have closed our toilet facilities at this time

Remember to bring:

  • Your own riding equipment (if you have it) – wipe down your equipment or wash it before you leave home
When you arrive...
  • We have opened up our Melville car park for horse riding guests to allow greater space for social distancing. Please use this car park, and be mindful of others around you when you park
  • Please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes prior to your activity slot
  • When you arrive, head straight to the Riding Centre Reception
  • You will find markers on the floor to help everyone keep two metres apart
  • We have installed hand sanitiser stations and protective screens in reception and in the stables
  • All areas and equipment are being deep with Oxiver prior to opening with enhanced deep cleaning measures in place for close down
While you ride...
  • All horse riding equipment including tack, helmets and harnesses are cleaned with Oxiver prior to opening
  • Follow the instructions given by your riding instructor
  • Please don’t touch another rider’s equipment
When you're finished...
  • Once you have finished your session please drop off all equipment in the cleaning liquid provided
