Things to do in winter on a self-catering break in Perthshire

We all know that the Scottish weather can be unpredictable, but who lets a bit of mud and rain spoil their fun?

When you book a self-catering break in Perthshire, there’s plenty to keep all the family entertained. From the wee ones right up to the big kids – yes that includes nannie too. Whether you want to glide through the woods on a Segway, or zip over the treetops on Aloft! – you can do it all at Action Glen.

Action Glen

If you’re stopping in Culcrieff Village, not only can you make the most of the peaceful village setting and stunning views, but you’ll be also just a short trundle to all the adrenaline filled fun at Action Glen. Don’t worry if you’re stopping in one of our other lodges, you won’t be more then 30 minutes from the action.

Flying through the trees of Aloft or bouncing along the pillows in Glen’s Adventure Park, there’s over 30 outdoor activities to try and we do everything we can to keep them all open year round.  Of course, if the snow hits, we have to close some of the driving activities but the mud won’t stop us.  In fact, the tracks in the quarry are far more enjoyable with a bit of mud mixed in.

Looking for some inspiration for you next winter break? We’ve picked some of our favourites on offer at Action Glen.

Our recommendations

1). Best activities in the heavy rain
Aloft is pretty sheltered under the trees and there’s nothing more exhilarating than flying through the trees with the fresh air hitting your face.  The archery and air rifles also take place undercover so you can shoot away in all the elements.

2). Best activities in the mud
All the driving activities are so much more fun when you throw in the mud.  Our drivers are experts at navigating and skidding through the mud which adds to the whole 4×4 driving experience. The mini off roaders are also great fun in winter.  And we all know kids love to throw themselves in the mud. Perhaps make sure you book a lodge with a washing machine.  Only the cosy cabins don’t have their own washing machine.

3). Best activities in the snow
When the snow hits, we all take to the hills to unleash our inner child. For a real thrill our better sledging tracks are just the ticket.  Back at base there’s hot chocolate and delicious coffee waiting.
