Meet Fiona, our Assistant Spa Manager.
Fiona joined us in Spa land two years ago as a therapist, and our guests have been enjoying the benefits of her healing hands ever since. Over her two years here she’s been promoted to Beauty Expert and is now our Assistant Manager, and what our Fiona doesn’t know about beauty therapy, simply isn’t worth knowing.
She loves working with all of the products and treatments, especially giving guests a facial to see the instant results. But let’s hear a little more about Fiona in her own words…
If you could give a famous person a treatment, alive or dead, who would it be, what would it be and why?
I would love to give Kate Middleton a facial. Simply because I need to know what she uses and how her skin looks so great! Even through her pregnancies she looked amazing. Her makeup is also always perfect so it must mean she has a great skincare routine.
What’s your pet hate?
Mushrooms… I hate everything about them.
Tell us a little something we don’t know about you?
I’ve been a Zumba fitness instructor for just over 5 years. Although I hung up my trainers in May this year, I taught classes 3 times a week for 5 years.
What has been your most exciting adventure?
Learning how to snowboard! Being afraid of heights has always been a bit of an issue for me, but I conquered that fear so that I could learn to snowboard. Still need lots of practise but at least the chair lift and its heights aren’t an issue anymore.
What’s your top tip for relaxing after a hard day?
After a hard day, I make sure I put my aromatherapy oil burner on with de-stress mind oils to fill my home with a relaxing scent.
If you could have one superpower what would it be and why?
My superpower would be the ability to heal. It would mean I could get rid of simple cuts and bruises but also help people with their healing process for bigger things.
What things can you do at home to release tension from the body?
Relax in a hot bath to help ease tension from muscles. The heat from the water helps the tension build up to break down. Make sure the water isn’t too hot, as really hot water will dehydrate the skin.
Also, try to be aware of your posture while doing daily tasks, especially driving.
What’s a day in the Spa like?
Full of interesting things. We get to work with amazing products and come across different things all the time.
We love a good bit of home baking in the Spa, it’s actually become a bit of a weekly thing at the moment. We hold our very own bake off (of which I’m more a consumer than a baker – putting my hands up I’ve only baked once).
What’s been your most fun day working in the Spa so far?
It’s hard to pick, we have so many of them! One that sticks out is when we set up an indoor refresh tent in the Melville Hall for the weekend of T in The Park. The tent looked great, it was decorated with fairy lights and even the boss wore wellies with her dress. We had drop in nail appointments all day and the live band was superb.
