Meet Romeo, Romeo’s our favourite Shetland Stallion and he loves nothing more than taking our younger guests for a little trot.
Our Romeo, and his beautiful blonde mane, can be found up at the Riding Centre where he’s usually spotted spending some quality time with his favourite filly, Polly.
But don’t let us introduce you – let’s hear all about Romeo, straight from the horse’s mouth…
If there was a movie made about your life, who would play you and why?
Well I have to say, there’s only one person really suitable to play me. It would have to be Ryan Gosling. He’s charming, blonde, a general heart-throb and obviously with his repertoire of films, fairly talented. So yeah, I suppose he could play me.
What’s your best party trick?
Making myself look tall through the use of bold camera angles.
Tell us your favourite joke?
A pony goes to the doctor and says ‘Doc, I think I’m dying. I have this terrible sore throat!’ So the doctor assures him ‘You’re ok, you’re just a little horse!’
Polly loves that one, gets her every time.
What’s a day in the life for you at work, give us the insider info?
Well, I like to keep it pretty chilled most days. Me and Poll will start with a wee canter around the fields having a good old chinwag, chewing the grass. Then we’ll let the humans brush our hair for a bit before the kids arrive. The kids are great, we take them out for a little ride and then just horse around in the evenings.
Who’s your favourite famous horse and why?
Shadowfax from Lord of the Rings. He makes Sea Biscuit look like he’s running in quicksand.
Would you rather be chased by ten chicken-sized humans or one human-sized chicken?
Obviously given my stature, I’d have to choose the chicken-sized humans. I think the question’s a tad insensitive really.
If you were to make an album, what would be the name of your debut album?
Easy. “Born in the U.S.Hay” – I wasn’t but who doesn’t love The Boss?!
